Attacking the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government at the Centre, Thackeray said that the offset deal was given to a company had no prior experience in defence manufacturing. He further added that soldiers need a pay hike, but the government is not giving them, instead of doing scams in the purchase of arms and ammunition. The Shiv Sena chief stated, “Chowkidars have become thieves." He also took a dig at PM Modi over his promising of giving Rs 15 lakh to each individual. He hit out at the BJP for raking up the Ram temple before elections. "I went to Ayodhya (November) and have come to the holy land of Pandharpur. I want to wake up the sleeping Kumbhakarna -- you exploited Ram temple to win elections, and now you are in a slumber. We will not rest till the Ram temple is constructed," said Thackeray. The Shiv Sena is demanding to build Ram temple in Ayodhya. Earlier this month, Thackeray made an announcement to hold a 'Dharma Sabha' in the temple town of Pandharpur on December 24. The Dharma Sabha (religious convention) is intended to push its ruling NDA ally, BJP, to immediately declare the date for the construction of the Ram temple. In November also, the Shiv Sena chief along with his followers visited Ayodhya. During his visit, he attacked the BJP government for making the constructing of temple a poll agenda ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, and the party should not play with the sentiments of Hindus.
