Mumbai, August 23: Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray on Friday made a controversial comment that people who don’t believe in Veer Savarkar must be beaten in public. He was also of the opinion that these days people don't realise the struggle and importance of Veer Savarkar in India's independence.
Expressing his opinion on the issue, the Shiv Sena supremo said, "People who don’t believe in Veer Savarkar must be beaten in public, because they won’t realise the struggle and importance of Veer Savarkar in India's independence. Earlier on Wednesday, reports arrived that Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP)-led Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) -- the students’ wing of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) -- installed a new pillar with busts of V D Savarkar, Bhagat Singh and Subhas Chandra Bose at Delhi University North Campus.
