Mumbai, July 22: Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has given an interview to Sanjay Raut, who is Executive Editor of Shiv Sena's mouthpiece Saamana and Rajya Sabha MP of the party. "I am not Donald Trump. I cannot see my people suffer in front of my eyes," Thackeray has said. He was apparently responding to a question related to the Maharashtra government's response to the COVID-19 crisis. Maharashtra is the worst-hit state in the country with 3,27,031 coronavirus cases and 12,276 fatalities. I Am Not Donald Trump, Says Uddhav Thackeray:

In the United States, President Trump is facing criticism for not imposing tougher restrictions even as the country has the highest number of COVID-19 cases and deaths in the world. Thackeray's interview with Raut will be published in Saamana on July 25 and July 26 ahead of the Chief Minister's 60th birthday on July 27.

In the teaser, Thackeray categorically stated that his decisions would be for betterment of the people without any fear or favour. He also shared his views on whether students should appear for their final-year college examinations amid the pandemic. "Nobody should be under the illusion that students won’t get [infected with] COVID-19," he can be heard saying.
