Uddhav Thackeray Didn't Meet Ahmed Patel, Talks on With Congress And NCP, Clarifies Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut
Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut on Wednesday rejected media reports of Uddhav Thackeray’s meeting with senior Congress leader Ahmed Patel. Raut clarified on Thackeray’s behalf that no such meeting took place. Earlier in the day, reports surfaced that both the leader met at Trident Hotel in Mumbai on Tuesday night.
Mumbai, November 13: Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut on Wednesday rejected media reports of Uddhav Thackeray’s meeting with senior Congress leader Ahmed Patel. Sanjay Raut clarified on Uddhav Thackeray’s behalf that no such meeting took place. He further added that Shiv Sena’s talks of forming an alliance with the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and the Congress. Earlier in the day, there had been reports that both the leader met at Trident Hotel in Mumbai on Tuesday night and the meeting went on for almost 45 minutes. However, on Wednesday, Thackeray met Congress leaders to discuss the future strategy to form the government in the stage. Speaking to reporters, Thackeray said, “Discussions have started, whatever decision will be taken we will inform soon.”
NCP Chief Sharad Pawar is likely to meet Congress interim President Sonia Gandhi this weekend to firm up alliance talks with the Shiv Sena. The meeting comes in the wake of both NCP and Congress forming sub-committees to work out the common minimum programme (CMP).
The Congress and the NCP first finalise the Common Minimum Programme between themselves and then it will be discussed with the Shiv Sena. The Pawar-led party named its five members for a joint committee to be formed with the Congress for deciding the CMP. The members include Ajit Pawar, Jayant Patil, Chhagan Bhujbal, Nawab Malik and Dhananjay Munde.
