Tripura Panchayat Election Results 2019: PM Narendra Modi Credits Success to Development Politics

Out of the 833-gram panchayat seats, the BJP won 638, the CPI(M) 22, the Congress 158 and the Indigenous People's Front of Tripura (IPFT) 6. Nine seats were won by independents. The state recorded 76.63 per cent turnout during the polling.

New Delhi, August 2: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday credited "development politics" for the victory of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the Tripura panchayat elections, which were held on July 27. The BJP won over 90 per cent seats in the three-tier panchayat elections in the northeastern state. After the landslide win, Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to Twitter and said the Party's repeated successes in the state shows the power of development politics. BJP Wins 83 Per Cent of 6,646 Seats Unopposed in Gram Panchayat Polls.

Thanking people of Tripura on Twitter, the Prime Minister said, "Tripura's faith in @BJP4India remains unwavering! I thank the people of the state for blessing the party in the panchayat elections ... The transformative work in Tripura's rural areas is positively impacting many lives".

In another tweet, the Prime Minister also urged party workers from other states to interact with karyakartas from Tripura.  "I would urge @BJP4India karyakartas (workers) from other states to interact with karyakartas from Tripura. The Party's repeated successes in the state demonstrate the power of development politics and democratic temperament," he tweeted.

On July 27, polling was held for gram panchayats polls in Tripura. The voting to 833 seats of Village Panchayats, 82 of Panchayat Samiti and 79 seats of Zilla Parisad were held across 1848 polling stations across the state. The counting of votes was held July 31, in which the BJP won 638 out of the 833 seats.
