Kolkata, Aug 2: Trinamool Congress lawmakers who were part of the six-member party delegation which intended to visit Bengal-bordering regions of Assam today have been reportedly arrested for allegedly assaulting the police personnel at Silchar airport.
The delegation, headed by Bengal Urban Development Minister Firhad Hakim, included two MPs and four MLAs. According to Republic, the two parliamentarians - Ghosh Dastidar and Sukhendu Shekhar Ray - have been arrested.

TMC MP Derek O'Brien, while speaking in the Rajya Sabha, said his party leaders have been prevented from exercising their democratic right. "This is a super-emergency like situation. All our leaders have been detained," he said.
Following the detention of her party leaders, TMC chief and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said the BJP government has been "exposed". "This is worse than emergency. They are using muscle power to crush the Opposition. But Trinamool will not be suppressed through the use of such violence," Banerjee said.
The TMP supremo claimed the "days of BJP are numbered" which is provoking them to crush the Opposition parties with all their might, including the "police force".
The Trinamool delegation was expected to meet the representatives of over citizen groups in Assam who have been excluded from the draft National Register of Citizens. The draft NRC excludes 40,07,707 names out of the state's total population of 3.3 crores.
