Results for the Tiruppur Lok Sabha Constituency in Tamil Nadu has been declared by the Election Commission of India (ECI). K Subbarayan of the Communist Party of India (CPI) has won the seat. The counting of votes for the Tiruppur Lok Sabha Constituency began at 8 AM on Thursday, May 23. This is one of the 39 Parliamentary constituencies in Tamil Nadu which went to poll on April 18.
Originally, this constituency was known as Gobichettipalayam but was later converted to Tiruppur by Election commission of India (ECI) after rearrangement of constituencies in 2008. The constituency number of this constituency is 18 and is not reserved for any category i.e. it falls into the General Category. The All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) has fielded former minister and Tiruppur North MLA, MSM Anandan from the Tiruppur parliamentary constituency. Meanwhile, the CPI has fielded its candidate K Subbarayan from this constituency while TTV Dhinakaran's Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam’s has fielded S R Selvam as its Tirupur candidate.
Polling in all the 39 constituencies will be held on April 18 in the second phase. The results will be declared on May 23 along with the results of other states.
In the 2014 Lok Sabha Polls, V Sathyabama of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) had won the seat by defeating N.Dineshkumar of the Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam party. Sathyabama had won the seat with 442,778 votes.
