‘The Accidental Prime Minister’, a film based on former Prime Minister of India Dr Manmohan Singh's years in the office, is the topic of discussion on both social media and political and Bollywood circles. While the trailer of the movie has done well, Dr Manmohan Singh’s former media advisor Pankaj Pachauri has termed the film as BJP’s election campaign strategy. Pachauri had succeeded Sanjaya Baru as Manmohan Singh's media advisor. Sanjaya Baru has authored the book 'The Accidental Prime Minister' that the film is based on. Pachauri went as far as saying that the book is a "fictional account" and that the film, which uses real names and shows real-life characters, is also complete fiction. “It’s fiction turned into fiction,” Pankaj Pachauri told CNN-News18.
Talking on the trailer, Pachauri termed the people behind the film as that of “low calibre and intellect”. He added that the film portrays Dr Singh in a bad light. Pachauri was quoted saying by the channel that the depiction of Dr Singh's time as PM is misleading.
But even as the political row over the upcoming film The Accidental Prime Minister intensifies, its lead actor Anupam Kher on Friday said he won't buckle under pressure. Anupam Kher is playing the role of former prime minister Dr Manmohan Singh in The Accidental Prime Minister, trailer of which was released on Thursday. In a tweet, the veteran Bollywood actor called his performance in The Accidental Prime Minister life's best.
