Mumbai, December 28: As the political row over the upcoming film The Accidental Prime Minister intensifies, its lead actor Anupam Kher on Friday said he won't buckle under pressure. Anupam Kher is playing the role of former prime minister Dr Manmohan Singh in The Accidental Prime Minister, trailer of which was released on Thursday. In a tweet, the veteran Bollywood actor called his performance in The Accidental Prime Minister life's best.

"I am not going to back off. This is my life’s best performance," Kher, who had said that initially, he didn't want to be a part of The Accidental Prime Minister, tweeted. "Dr Manmohan Singh will agree after seeing the film that it is a 100% accurate depiction," he added. The film is being criticised by the Congress as 'incorrect representation of the facts', Kher, however, is seemingly unfazed by the barbs. Is 'The Accidental Prime Minister' Secret Weapon of BJP For 2019 Lok Sabha Elections? Party Promotes Trailer on Twitter.

Maharashtra Youth Congress’ objection that the recently released trailer of the film, based on Dr Manmohan Singh’ tenure as India’s prime minister, has distorted the facts. The organisation on Thursday also asserted that if it is released without prior screening for their office bearers, they will resort to 'other options' to stop the release of the film. The BJP, on the other hand, shared the trailer of the movie.

Calling The Accidental Prime Minister a 'riveting tale of how a family held the country to ransom for 10 long years', the BJP tweeted the trailer through his official Twitter handle. Union minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore defended his party for 'extending wishes' for the film, and hit out at the Congress asking why the party, which has been a champion of freedom, is now questioning that freedom. "Can't we extend our wishes to a film?" he said. The Accidental Prime Minister Trailer: Anupam Kher as Dr Manmohan Singh Will Make You Debate If He Was a PM or a Pawn - Watch Video.

Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala also called The Accidental Prime Minister trailer 'fake propaganda' and said: "it will not stop Congress from questioning Narendra Modi’s government on rural distress, unemployment, demonetisation, the Goods and Services Tax, and corruption." The film is due to be out on January 11, ahead of the high-stakes 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
