Mumbai, March 23: Thane Lok Sabha seat is one the 48 parliamentary seats in Maharashtra. Polling for Lok Sabah election in Thane was held on April 29 in the fourth phase of general polls. Rajan Vichare of the BJP was elected as Member of Parliament from Thane Lok Sabha seat.

The Shiv Sena renominated Rajan Vichare who is the sitting Member of Parliament (MP) from Thane Lok Sabha seat. To defeat Vichare, the NCP declared Anand Paranjpe as its candidate. The process of filing nomination for Thane parliamentary election began from April 2. The last day for nominations was April 9. The Shiv Sena has forged an allaince with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), while the NCP is contesting with the Congress. The BJP and Shiv Sena are contesting 25 and 23 seats respectively in Maharashtra. In 2014 Lok Sabha elections, the alliance of the BJP, Shiv Sena and Swabhiman Paksha together won 42 seats in Maharashtra. The Congress bagged twos eats, while the NCP four. Lok Sabha elections will take place in seven phases - on April 11, April 18, April 23, April 29, May 6, May 12 and May 19.
