Thane Bandh: MNS to Withdraw Call After Raj Thackeray Tells Party Workers 'Not to Create Problems For Public'
A day after Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) called for a bandh in Thane on August 22, Avinash Jadhav, MNS Thane Chief said that the party has decided to withdraw the bandh because Raj Thackeray has told the party workers not to create problems for the public.
Mumbai, August 20: On Monday, Enforcement Directorate (ED) summoned MNS chief Raj Thackeray to appear before it in connection with IL&FS money laundering case. According to an ANI tweet, Jadhav said, "We declared a bandh in Thane on August 22 after ED summoned our chief Raj Thackeray. But I received a call from Raj Sahab and he has asked not to do anything that might create problems for the public. So we've decided to withdraw the bandh."

The MNS in its advisory on Monday warned people to not step out on the day of the Bandh. “Do not step out of homes on Thursday unless it is necessary. The party will not be responsible if the sentiments of its workers explode on Thursday. So, people in Mumbai should stay back and not step out unless necessary," MNS spokesperson was quoted in a report.
ED is probing Thackeray's involvement in the case in connection with the IL&FS group's loan equity investment in a company called Kohinoor CTNL. The company was promoted by Unmesh Joshi, son of former CM of Maharashtra Manohar Joshi, and is constructing the Kohinoor Square towers in Mumbai.
IL&FS invested over Rs 200 crore funds in Kohinoor CTNL and is said to have suffered a loss in the deal. The ED last week filed its first charge sheet before a special court in Mumbai in the case and attached assets worth about Rs 570 crore.
