Telangana Municipal Elections 2020: AIMIM to Contest in 276 Civic Wards, Asaduddin Owaisi Urges KCR to Not to Implement NPR

Hyderabad, January 17: Asaduddin Owaisi's All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) will be contesting 276 civic wards in the upcoming municipal elections in Telangana. While campaigning for the polls, the AIMIM president urged chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao or KCR to not implement National Population Register (NPR) in the state. Telangana Minister E Dayakar Rao Says TRS Will Win Municipal Polls.

The polling for 120 municipalities and nine municipal corporations will take place on January 22. The results would be declared on January 25. However, the polling in Karimnagar municipal corporation will take place on January 25 and results will be out on January 27.

On Thursday, the Telangana Congress unit registered a complaint against AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi to the Election Commission over his recent remarks against the grand old party.

"People in Congress have a lot of money, take it from them. You'll be getting it due to me. Just vote for me. If they are giving you (money) then take it. I say to Congress to raise the rate, my price is not Rs 2,000 only. I am worth more than that," Owaisi had said.
