Telangana MLC Elections 2019 Results: TRS Loses All Three MLC Seats Ahead of Lok Sabha Elections
In a major setback to the Telangana Rashtriya Samithi ahead of the Lok Sabha elections 2019, its all the three candidates, including two sitting members lost the recently concluded legislative elections.
Hyderabad, March 27: In a major setback to the Telangana Rashtriya Samithi (TRS) ahead of the Lok Sabha elections 2019, its all the three candidates, including two sitting members lost the recently concluded legislative elections. Telangana MLC elections for two seats under teachers’ constituencies and one seat under the graduates’ constituency were held on March 22, and the results were declared on Tuesday.
The Congress made a comeback in these elections as its senior leader, and former minister T Jeevan Reddy won the MLC elections from the Karimnagar-Adilabad-Nizamabad-Medak graduates constituency. Reddy defeated his nearest rival Mamindla Chandrashekhar Goud, by a margin of 39,430 votes.
Meanwhile, another, another Congress-backed leader K Raghotham Reddy of Progressive Recognised Teachers’ Union (PRTU) won the Karimnagar-Adilabad-Nizamabad-Medak teachers constituency. He defeated B Mohan Reddy by a margin of 1,707 votes. TRS’ Sudhakar Reddy came at the Fourth place. Similarly, Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) backed candidate Narsi Reddy defeated sitting MLC Pula Ravinder of the TRS from Karimnagar Teacher’s constituency.
The total voter turnout in these elections was 89.25 percent, as a total of 18,888 voters cast their votes in the 12 new districts. Earlier, this month, in the biennial elections held for five seats of the Telangana Legislative Council, four members of theTRS, were elected, whereas, the remaining one seat was bagged by its ally - the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM).
