It is considered to be a big blow to the ruling Telangana Rashtriya Samithi (TRS) government in the state before the Lok Sabha Elections 2019. Meanwhile, Karimnagar Graduate constituency results are yet to be announced.
For the smooth conduct of counting of votes, around 14 tables were set up. The total voter turnout in these elections was 89.25 percent, as a total of 18,888 voters casted their votes in the 12 new districts. Earlier, this month, in the biennial elections held for five seats of the Telangana Legislative Council, four members of theTRS, were elected, whereas, the remaining 1 seat was bagged by its ally - the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM).
The polls were a no-contest, as the opposition Congress had not fielded any of its nominee to protest the alleged "horse-trading" by TRS ahead of biennial polls. The decision was taken after 4 out of Congress' 19 MLAs jumped ship to Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao's camp, along with 1 out of the two TDP legislators.
