Hyderabad, March 11: The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Sunday announced the schedule of the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. In Telangana, the elections will be held in a single phase on April 11. While, the election for the Lok Sabha for 543 seats will take place in seven phases. A total of 17 Members of Parliament will be elected from the Telangana. The results will be declared on May 23. It was separated from Andhra Pradesh on June 2, 2014. Pranab Mukherjee, the then President of India, provided his consent to the decision on March 1, 2014. It is for the first time that the Lok Sabha election will be going to take place in the state. Meanwhile, in 2014, Lok Sabha elections were held in unified Andhra Pradesh on 42 seats. The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) won 16 seats,, followed by the Telangana Rashtriya Samithi (TRS) with 11 seats. The YSR Congress Party remained victories on nine seats, while, the Congress won two seats and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) who fought in alliance with the TDP bagged three. One seat was won by All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen (AIMIM). In the recently concluded assembly election, the TRS retained power with a massive victory. The party won 88 seats out of 119, whereas, the Congress-TDP alliance bagged only 21 seats. The AIMIM remained victorious on seven seats, while, the BJP won one seat. According to an opinion poll byTimes Now-VMR, the TRS is expected to win 10 seats, meanwhile, the Congress is likely win five seats.
