Hyderabad, March 12: Telangana Legislative Council Chairman K. Swamy Goud on Monday suffered an injury when Congress members flung the mike at him, injuring his right eye. On the first day of its budget session, the state Assembly saw a ruckus when the Congress members staged a protest during the Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan’s speech. Goud suffered injuries as a microphone, allegedly thrown by Congress MLC Komatireddy Venkata Reddy hit him.
As per reports by Hindustan Times, Reddy, who represents Nalgonda assembly constituency in the state through his headphone at the podium. It missed the governor and hit Goud on his face, causing bleeding just below his right eye.
As per reports, Reddy and other Congress MLAs were protesting the K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR)-led Telangana government’s attitude towards rising farmer suicides in the state. Reports state that Goud was sitting adjacent to the Governor while the latter addressed the joint sitting of the legislature. The Congress MLAs staged a protest and flung papers and microphones in the air. They also shouted slogans against the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi government. The Congress leaders alleged that it ignored farmer and unemployment issues.
As per reports, the leaders’ broke microphones and threw them towards the podium where the Governor was seated. The Minister was rushed to the hospital and was later shifted to Sarojini Devi Eye Hospital. Meanwhile, the Congress denied all charges and alleged that their leaders were beaten up by Marshals. The ruckus continued in the house while the governor quickly completed his speech and left the hall.
