Telangana Forms Two SITs to Probe Data Theft Case Allegedly Involving TDP
With the data theft issue making the rounds in the political circle between Andhra Pradesh and Telangana governments, the latter had formed two Special Investigation Teams to probe the matter.
Hyderabad, March 7: With the data theft issue making the rounds in the political circle between Andhra Pradesh and Telangana governments, the latter had formed two Special Investigation Teams to probe the matter on Thursday. The TRS government announced that one team would inquire on the cases registered in Guntur and Tulluru, while the other would inquire on the 252 complaints received by Election Commission using Form 7.
Earlier on Wednesday, the Telangana government – under Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao – had announced to form a SIT to probe the data theft case involving an IT firm which provides services to Andhra Pradesh's ruling Telugu Desam Party (TDP). It had also informed that the team would be headed by Inspector General of Police (West Zone) Stephen Ravindra. There were reports that the Andhra Pradesh government was mulling action against the Telangana Police in the alleged data theft case. Also, TDP filed an official complaint against the Telangana Police on Wednesday and went onto release photographs of alleged Telangana Police personnel of raiding the MS IT Grids Hyderabad office on the February 23, 2019, informed agencies.
However, senior Telangana Police officials and leaders from TRS have time and time again justified the action by stating that they were doing their job by acting on a complaint they received on March 2. On the other hand, the Andhra cabinet has claimed that no government data was stolen.
