Hyderabad, September 11: A team of Election Commission will be visiting Telangana on September 11 to assess the situation in the state regarding poll preparedness after the dissolution of the State Legislative Assembly. The team will submit its report to the commission after completion of the visit. Earlier in the day, reports also surfaced in the media that the assembly elections in Telangana might not be clubbed together with four other states - Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Mizoram - which are scheduled for year-end polls.

Yesterday, Telangana Chief Minister dissolved the state assembly to pave the way for early elections. The decision was taken after the cabinet meeting. Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan accepted the resolution and asked KCR to continue as caretaker chief minister. KCR also announced a list of 105 Telangana Rashtriya Samithi (TRS) candidates. However, KCR said the decision to dissolve assembly for an early election is not a political move.

In 2014 elections, the TRS had bagged 63 seats in 119-member assembly to form the first government in Telangana. The assembly term is till May 2019 and elections in normal course would have been conducted along with the Lok Sabha polls.
