TDP MP Jaydev Galla Speaks On No-Confidence Motion in Lok Sabha For An Hour: 'Bharat Ane Nenu', 'Shraap' For BJP And Other Highlights Of His Speech
The TD MP went to the extent of saying that he wasn't threatening the Prime Minister but instead, the Andhra people have cursed the BJP government for not granting the SCS to the state of Andhra Pradesh.
New Delhi, July 20: Telugu Desam Party (TDP) MP Jaydev Galla, opened the proceedings in the No-Confidence Motion against the NDA government in the Lok Sabha on Friday. The TDP MP was supposed to speak for 13 minutes only, but he spoke for almost an hour. Galla was both critical and virulent of the NDA government in general and Prime Minister Narendra Modi in particular. Follow the live proceedings of the No-Confidence Motion here.
The serving MP from Guntur, Andhra Pradesh, began his speech by referencing one of the biggest hits in Telugu Cinema this year, Bharat Ane Nenu. Mentioning the theme of the Mahesh Babu-starrer, Galla said that 'a promise is a promise' referring to the Special Category Status and said that one who cannot keep his promise doesn't deserve to be called a 'Man.'
The MP said that injustice has been done to the people of Andhra Pradesh by not granting the Special Category Status (SCS) to the state of Andhra. He was very critical of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and called the NDA rule "Modi-Shah" regime. "The saga of Andhra Pradesh during this Modi-Shah regime is a saga of empty promises," said the MP.
"Andhra Pradesh is bearing the burdens of a new state. Centre is depriving funds. Instead of helping us, the Modi regime is creating more uncertainties and challenges for us. Telangana is not the new state, AP is," asserted the TDP MP.
