Taj Mahal Not In Danger, No Change In Monument's Original Colour, Says Minister Mahesh Sharma
Union Minister Sharma also said that the ministry of culture will file an affidavit in the Supreme Court regarding the Taj Mahal matter.
New Delhi, July 12: A day after the Supreme Court came down hard on the Centre over the maintenance of the Taj Mahal, warning the government that "Either we will shut down the Taj or you demolish or restore it," Union minister of State for Culture, Mahesh Sharma, has issued a statement saying that "there is no danger to the Taj Mahal." The minister also claimed that there is no change in the colour of the Taj Mahal, replying on several reports and study which claim that the architectural wonder is loosing its beauty due to weather factors and neglect.
News agency ANI reported the BJP leader's comment. Sharma also said that the ministry of culture will file an affidavit in the Supreme Court regarding the matter. This is what the minister had to say:
The top court on Wednesday had said that the Taj Mahal was even more beautiful than the Eiffel Tower and came down heavily on the government for not looking after the architectural wonder. The Supreme Court also said that had the government taken the right measures for maintaining the Taj Mahal, it could have contributed heavily to the national exchequer.
