New Delhi, August 7: Veteran Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Lal  Krishna Advani on Wednesday issued a statement expressing sorrow over the death of former external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj. The 67-year-old died last night after suffering a cardiac arrest. The demise came as a shock for her family and well-wishers across the nation. Live Updates of Sushma Swaraj's Funeral

Advani, who worked closely with Swaraj during his over decade-long tenure as the party chief, said her death has come as a major jolt to him. For the nation, he added, it is an "irreparable loss". Sushma Swaraj Tweets 'Hum Hain Na' to Man Stranded in Saudi Arabia, Wins Hearts Again.

"The nation has lost a remarkable leader. To me, it is an irreparable loss and I will miss Sushmaji’s presence immensely. May her soul rest in peace," Advani said.

"My heartfelt condolences to Swaraj ji, Bansuri & all members of her family. Om Shanti," he added.

Leaders cutting across party lines have arrived at her residence to pay their final tributes. The body will be brought to the BJP headquarters at 12pm. The mortal remains will be taken to Lodhi Crematorium at 4pm, where the last rites would be performed.
