Sushma Swaraj Cautions Mamata Banerjee For Outburst on PM Narendra Modi, Says 'You Crossed All Limits'
Union Minister Sushma Swaraj cautioned WB CM Mamata Banerjee not to use words like 'tight slap of democracy' during speeches against PM Narendra Modi and stated that she crossed all limits.
New Delhi, May 8: With West Bengal becoming the epicentre of political turmoil during the Lok Sabha Elections 2019, Union Minister and senior BJP leader Sushma Swaraj on Tuesday cautioned state Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee not to use words like 'tight slap of democracy' during speeches. She was of the opinion that such acrimonious words would not bode well on a future day when the two leaders end up having to cooperate for administrative purposes.
Explaining the depth of politics to Mamata Banerjee with her experience, the EAM took to Twitter and wrote, "Mamataji, you crossed all limits today. You are the Chief Minister of a state and Modiji is the country's Prime Minister. You have to talk to him tomorrow. This is why I would like to remind you of a couplet written by Bashir Badr: Rage all you want but I just have this one request from you, do not feel ashamed when we have to become friends again someday." Wanted to Give PM Narendra Modi 'Tight Slap of Democracy' After He Called TMC Tolabaaz: Mamata Banerjee
Earlier, Mamata while stating the reason for using the line had said, as reported by NDTV, "Money does not matter to me. That is why when Narendra Modi came to Bengal and accused my party of being tolabaaz, I wanted to give him a tight slap of democracy."
It is to be known that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had accused Banerjee government of "Triple T" - short for Trinamool, Tolabaazi, Tax. To this, Banerjee retorted, "If I am a tolabaaz, what are you? Your entire body - from head to feet - is drenched in the blood of people. Only riots, only riots and only riots."
