New Delhi, January 14: A pre-election survey on the NaMo app aims to gauge the constituency-wise impact of the proposed 'mahagathbandhan' -- the grand coalitions being formed by the Congress and regional parties in several states to take on the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The party cadres were urged in a video statement by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to fill up the survey form on his official application.
"Your feedback matters. It will help us take important decisions. Will you all fill that survey and also urge others to do so," Modi said in a 30-second video released by him on Twitter and Facebook. NaMo App Invites Micro Donations, Volunteers For BJP Ahead of 2019 Lok Sabha Elections.
In the survey, the participants are asked to confirm whether they are workers of the BJP. They would be asked to answer 12 questions -- one of which is related to the impact of the proposed mahagathbandhan.
The question on the impact of the Opposition's grand alliance is as follows: "Do you see any impact of the proposed mahagathbandhan in your constituency?" The user, however, could answer only in 'yes' or 'no' format, without being able to express his detailed view.
Even as the Prime Minister has sought the views of BJP cadres on the coming together of major Opposition outfits, the party's senior leaders have so far ridiculed the mahagathbandhan formations, calling them "desperate bids" by the Congress and a section of regional parties to "save their existence".
Among grand alliances which have been confirmed so far include, the gathbandhan of Samajwadi Party and the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) in Uttar Pradesh, Congress and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) in Maharashtra, Congress and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) in Andhra Pradesh, Congress and the DMK in Tamil Nadu.
The mahagathbandhan, in absolute sense of the word, is exhibited in Bihar, where six Opposition parties have come under a single umbrella to take on the NDA comprising of BJP, Janata Dal(United) and Lok Janshakti Party (LJP). The Opposition members of the grand alliance are: Congress, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), Hindustan Awami Morcha (Secular), Rashtriya Lok Samata Party (RLSP), Loktantrik Janata Dal (LJD) and Vikasheel Insaan Party.
