Chandigarh, November 7: Renowned actor and lawmaker from Punjab, Sunny Deol, would be visiting Pakistan via the Kartarpur corridor on November 9 to attend the inaugural jatha. Deol would be part of the official Indian delegation to the neighbouring nation. Deol, apart from being a prominent personality of Punjab, is also the lawmaker of Gurdaspur -- a town located close to the International Border. The Kartarpur Corridor would be linking Dera Baba Nanak in Gurdaspur, located roughly 4-km away from the IB, to the Gurdwara Darbar Sahib shrine in Kartarpur, based in Pakistan's Narowal district.

Deol had taken the political plunge days before the Lok Sabha elections in April-May, when he joined Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Deol, in his Bollywood career, is best known for his role in the movie Border (1977) which depicted the Battle of Longewala between Indian and Pakistani forces in 1971.

Apart from Deol, over 400 dignitaries comprising of prominent Sikh preachers and leaders, will be visiting Pakistan via the Kartarpur corridor on Saturday. Among the most prominent names in the list are Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh and former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh.
