Actor-turned-politician Sunny Deol held his first public roadshow in Barmer with people chanting 'Tariq Pe Tariq' and 'Hindustan Zindabad tha, zindabad hai, zindabad rahega' during the Lok Sabha rally.
Barmer, April 27: Days after joining the Bharatiya Janata Party and being nominated for Gurdaspur Lok Sabha seat, actor-turned-politician Sunny Deol held his first public roadshow in Barmer of Rajasthan on Friday. He was welcomed by the people amid the background sounds being played 'Hindustan Zindabad tha, zindabad hai, zindabad rahega' and 'Tariq Pe Tariq' during the roadshow.
Campaigning for his party's candidate from Barmer - Kailash Choudhary - the strongman of Bollywood, was seen excited and happy to be part of the festival of democracy. Riding on the rooftop of his vehicle and surrounded by thousands of fans, Sunny Deol was thanking the people for their love and support. In the meantime, a fan even gave a painted photo of him, which he accepted with all humility. Other than the famous dialogue of his movie Gadar, 'Hindustan Zindabad tha, zindabad hai, zindabad rahega', dialogue of Damini's 'Tariq pe Tariq' could also be heard.

Earlier, Kavita Khanna - wife of late actor and former BJP MP from Gurdaspur Vinod Khanna - expressed her displeasure over BJP's decision for announcing Deol as their candidate. Commenting on the issue, she said, "It is my decision that I'm not going to make this a personal issue and make a personal sacrifice and put my entire might and support with Prime Minister Narendra Modi."
Adding more, she said, "I felt hurt because I understand party the has right to decide candidate but there is a way of doing it, and the way it was done I felt abandoned and rejected, I was made to feel insignificant."
