Gurdaspur, May 2: Candidates are adopting unique ways of campaigning during the Lok Sabha elections to woo voters. In a similar way of campaigning, Bollywood actor and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Sunny Deol held hand pump during a roadshow in the Gurdaspur Lok Sabha constituency. Deol joined the BJP on April 23. Meanwhile, addressing a rally, the actor turned politician creating employment opportunities for the youth will be his main priority. He also praised the tenure of late BJP MP and actor Vinod Khanna and said he will take his work forward while seeking voters’ support for winning this border seat. The Gurdaspur has been a BJP stronghold. Earlier, Bollywood actor Vinod Khanna represented the constituency in 1998, 1999, 2004 and 2014. However, in 2017 by-polls Punjab Congress chief Sunil Jakhar defeated BJP candidate Swaran Salaria by over 1.5 lakh votes. Deol is contesting from Gurdaspur against Jhakar, People's Democratic Alliance’s Lal Chand and Aam Aadmi Party’s Peter Masih. The polls will take place on May 19, and the counting of votes will take place on May 23.
