Lucknow, December 21: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA from Sultanpur Devmani Dwivedi has said that he wants Sultanpur to be called Kushbhawanpur again as the name Sultanpur was given by the Khilji dynasty, he claimed. The MLA cited "Raghuvansh Mahakavya" as the source of this knowledge and claimed that it's mentioned in Gazetteer of Sultanpur as well. Devmani Dwivedi is the sitting MLA from Sultanpur's Lambhua seat. After Allahabad, Yogi Adityanath Administration in UP to Rename Sultanpur as Kushbhavanpur.

A few months ago, BJP MLA Devmani Dubey, had proposed a discussion in the UP assembly under Section 311. The proposal was accepted unanimously by the house. MLA Devmani has claimed that Sultanpur, which is the supporting district of Ayodhya district, was founded by one of Lord Ram's son, Kush and hence the city was known as Kushbhawanpur before it was named as Sultanpur. The MLA also claimed that Sitakund in the district is a proof of the fact that even Lord Ram's wife Sita had stayed in the district.
