Counting of votes underway in Sonkatch (SC), Dewas, Hatpipliya, Khategaon, Bagali (ST), Mandhata seats of Madhya Pradesh.

Bhopal, December 11: The counting of votes for Madhya Pradesh Assembly Elections 2018 is underway and the results are expected to be out by afternoon today. We are bringing you updates on the results for six MP Vidhan Sabha constituencies - Sonkatch (SC), Dewas, Hatpipliya, Khategaon, Bagali (ST), Mandhata. It looks like a tight fight between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress as the exit polls have not been able to clearly predict as to which party will win. While some exit polls have given the BJP an upper hand, others have given the Congress an upper hand. Voting for the MP Assembly polls was held on November 28 in a single phase. Stay with us for Live updates on who's winning these six Vidhan Sabha seats in the state.

Sonkatch (SC) Assembly Seat

The Sonkatch (SC) seat was with Sajjan Singh Verma of the Congress from 1998 to 2012. In 2013, Rajendra Phulchand Verma of the BJP won this seat and has been fielded by the party this election again against Congress veteran Sajjan Singh Verma. The BSP has fielded Babulal Chouhan on this seat

Dewas Assembly Seat

The Dewas seat in MP has been with Yuvraj Tukojirao Pawar of the BJP since 1990. This year, the party fielded Gayatri Raje Puar against Thakur Jaysingh of the Congress and Shaikh Qutubuddin of the BSP. It remains to be seen whether the BJP's dominance of over 15 years on this seat can be broken this election.

Hatpipliya Assembly Seat

The Hatpipliya seat has been won by Deepak Kailash Joshi of the BJP in the previous two elections - 2008 and 2013. Joshi remains the BJP candidate on this seat and is up against Manoj Choudhary of the Congress and Santosh of the BSP.

Khategaon Assembly Seat

The Khategaon seat has been a BJP-ruled seat since 1998. The 2013 election here was won by Ashish Govind Sharma of the BJP, who is also contesting the poll this year. Sharma is contesting against Om Patel of the Congress and Shriniwas Bakliwal of the BSP.

Bagali (ST) Assembly Seat

The Bagali (ST) seat has been won by Champalal Dewda of the BJP in the previous two elections in 2008 and 2013. This year, the BJP has fielded Kannoje Pahadsingh against Kamal Waskale of the Congress and Mukesh Kumar Bhilala of the BSP.

Mandhata Assembly Seat

The Mandhata seat has been with the BJP since 2008. While Lokendra Singh Tomar of the BJP has been an MLA from this seat for the past 10 years, the party has this election fielded Narendra Singh Tomar. Tomar is up against Narayan Patel of the Congress and Anil Ghanshyam of the BSP.
