New Delhi, October 2: Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Wednesday lashed out at the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), the ideological parent of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), accusing it of attempting to replace Mahatma Gandhi's vision with its "divisive agenda". Addressing an event in the national capital on the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, she said the India of last 5 years would had deeply pained the "father of the nation". Sonia alleged that those in power wants to turn the nation away from Gandhi's principles of secularism, compassion, harmony, brotherhood and pluralism. Instead, they want to pit one community against another to reap electoral dividends, the Congress chief said.
"India and Gandhi are synonymous to each other. But, some people have sworn to take the nation to a different route. They don't want Gandhi to be a symbol of India, but rather want the RSS to define India," she added,

Senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi led a march of party workers from the Delhi Congress unit office at the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Marg to the Raj Ghat, located roughly at a distance of around three kilometres. The party subsequently issued a statement saying that the "Gandhi sandesh Yatra" was aimed at redeeming "Gandhiji, Gandhism and Gandhi's India in our country today".
