Solapur City Central Vidhan Sabha Constituency Election Result 2019 in Maharashtra: Shinde Praniti Sushilkumar of Congress Wins MLA Seat in Assembly Polls

Mumbai: Shinde Praniti Sushilkumar of the Congress has won the Solapur City Central Vidhan Sabha in Maharashtra Assembly Elections 2019. Sushilkumar defeated Dilip Brahmdeo Mane of the Shiv Sena party.

The Solapur City Central seat falls in the western India zone of Maharashtra. The political battle here is primarily between All India Majlis-E-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) and the Opposition alliance of Congress-Nationalist Congress Party (NCP). From the BJP-Shiv Sena camp, the candidate contesting from Solapur City Central seat was Congress' Shinde Praniti Sushilkumar. The Opposition had issued the ticket to All India Majlis-E-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) leader Haji Farooq Maqbool from the constituency. In the last assembly polls held in 2014, Shinde Praniti Sushilkumar of Congress (INC) party had won the elections.

Ahead of the elections, pollsters had given the edge to the BJP in both Maharashtra and Haryana. In the latter, the party was predicting to win as much as 78 out of the 90 constituencies, as per one of the surveys. In the 2014 Maharashtra assembly elections, the BJP and the Shiv Sena had contested without a pre-poll alliance. The two parties ended up winning 123 and 63 seats, respectively. The Congress was restricted to 42 and the NCP managed to win 41 constituencies. Following the polls, the BJP and Sena came together to form the government.
