Results of the Lok Sabha election in Sitamarhi, along with other parliamentary seats, has been declared by the Election Commission of India (ECI) today. JD(U) has fielded Varun Kumar from Sitamarhi Lok Sabha constituency. Meanwhile, the Mahagathbandhan's Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) has given a ticket to Arjun Rai from here. The last date of filing nominations for the seat was April 18. The scrutiny of nominations papers took place on April 20. In 2014 elections also, Rashtriya Lok Samta Party (RLSP) candidate Ram Kumar Sharma had won from  Sitamarhi Lok Sabha Constituency defeating JDU candidate Arjun Rai with a margin of over three lakh votes. In 2009 elections, Rai had won the seat on the JDU ticket.

The Election Commission of India on March 10 announced the dates for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. The general elections will take place in seven phases between April 11 and May 19, and the results will be declared on May 23. Along with Lok Sabha Elections, voting will also take place in this phase for Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim and Odisha Assembly Elections 2019.
