Sikkim constituency is the only Lok Sabha constituency in the state of Sikkim in India. This place participated in its first general election in the year 1977 after joining the Union in 1975. Chatra Bahadur Chettri from Indian National Congress was elected as the first member of parliament from this constituency. Here the 17th Lok Sabha polls will be held on April 11, 2019. The constituency number of this seat is PC No.1.The results of the Sikkim Constituency will be declared today. The counting of votes began on the Parliamentary seat in Sikkim at 8 am on Thursday, May 23. Voting took place for the Sikkim seat in the first phase of Lok Sabha Elections 2019. Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) has nominated Shri LatenTshering Sherpa, while the Indian National Congress has chosen Bharat Basnett of Congress to compete for General Election, 2019. The Election Commission has declared March 25, 2019, as the last date of filing on nominations from the seat. The last date for withdrawal of candidature is March 28, 2019. In the last general election of 2014, Prem Das Rai of Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF) defeated Tek Nath Dhakal from Sikkim Krantikari Morcha(SKM). The SDF candidate won the seat by a mjority of 41,742 votes where he secured a total of 1,63, 698 votes. Nar Bahadur Khatiwada from Bhartiya Janata Party(BJP) and Akar Dhoj Limbu from Indian National Congress(INC) also competed for this seat in previous Lok Sabha polls. The total turnout of voters were 3,08,967.

The general election 2019 will be held in India from April 11, 2019 till May 19, 2019. Polling will be divided in to 7 phases. The result for each phase will be declared on May 23, 2019.
