Indore, December 23: Senior BJP leader Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Sunday compared Prime Minister Narendra Modi to god for implementing the citizenship Amendment Act which will citizenship to persecuted minorities, excluding Muslims, from Afghanistan, Pakistan and Bangladesh.
Chouhan at a gathering of Punjabi and Sikh communities made these remarks where he was quoted saying, "God gave you life, mother gave you birth but Narendra Modiji, you gave them a new life, respect and dignity. According to an Indian Express report, the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh went on to narrate stories of how women and girls who had come from Pakistan. He was quoted saying, "Devotees were not allowed to go to temples in that country, women were raped, some forcibly made to perform nikah and some killed for refusing to marry." He also said that he wondered why people are criticising the citizenship Amendment Act, instead, they should praise Narendra Modi and Amit Shah.
PM Narendra Modi, while addressing a rally at Ram Lila Maidan hailed the passage of the CAA by the Parliament and accused the Opposition of spreading lies and misinformation regarding the Act.
