Counting of votes for 230 seats of Madhya Pradesh assembly elections, including Shivpuri, Pichhore, Kolaras, Bamori, Guna and Chachoda, has begun.


Bhopal, December 11: Counting of votes for the Madhya Pradesh assembly elections results 2018 will begin at 8 am. 230 seats of Madhya Pradesh assembly, including Shivpuri, Pichhore, Kolaras, Bamori, Guna and Chachoda, went to polls on November 28. While the BJP is seeking a fourth consecutive term, the Congress dispensed all its might to wrest power. In Shivpuri, the contest is between BJP's sitting MLA Yashodhara Raje Scindia and Congress candidate Sidhharth Lada. In Pichhore, the electoral fight is between Congress's incumbent MLA KP Singh Kakkaju and BJP nominee Pritam Lodhi. The Kolaras assembly seat witnessed a clash between Congress candidate Mahendra Singh Yadav and BJP's Virendra Raghuvanshi. The seat was previously held by Congress's Ram Singh Yadav.

In Bamori, Congress fielded its sitting MLA Mahendra Singh Sisodiya who was challenged by BJP's Brijmohan Azad. In Guna, BJP replaced its incumbent legislator Pannalal Shakya with Gopilal Jatav. The Congress nominated Chandra Prakash Ahirwar from the seat. In Chachoda, however, the BJP exuded confidence in its sitting MLA Mamata Meena, who faced a tough fight from Congress candidate Laxman Singh.

In the 2013 Madhya Pradesh assembly elections, the BJP won 165 seats, the Congress 58, BSP four and Independents won three seats. In the 230-seat house, a party needs to win 116 to form a government.
