He added that that Shiv Sena's stance on Savarkar is same as before.
Addressing a gathering in Nagpur, Thackeray said, as news agency quotes, "Our government (Shiv Sena-Congress-NCP alliance) is working on the basis of Common Minimum Programme (CMP), not on the basis of ideology. Our stance on Savarkar is same as before." 'Savarkar Considered Cow as Animal, Not Mother, Will BJP Accept It?' NCP's Chhagan Bhujbal Backs Rahul Gandhi Amid Row.
Here's the ANI tweet:
Earlier, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Chhagan Bhujbul on Sunday took jibe on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and had said that the big personalities have differences in their views and Rahul Gandhi has its own thoughts about Vinayak Savarkar. He had said, "When it comes to big personalities, not everyone agrees on everything. Rahul ji has his own thoughts about Savarkar. Savarkar had said the cow is not our mother but BJP says it is. Savarkar's thought was also 'gyanvadi' but can BJP accept it? They can't."
Recently, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi made controversial remark against Savarkar during 'Bharat Bachao' rally. He had said, "I was told in Parliament by BJP yesterday 'Rahul ji, you gave a speech. Apologise for that.' I was told to apologise for something which is right. My name is not Rahul Savarkar. My name is Rahul Gandhi. I will never apologise for truth."
It is to be known that the row over apologising began after Gandhi jabbed Savarkar by stating that he is not amongst whose who backtrack from truth or apologise under undue pressure. His remarks, which took a potshot against Savarkar, were directed against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) which has sought his apology for "Rape in India" remark.
