Mumbai, June 6: Shiv Sena mouthpiece Saamana has mocked Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) Sampark for Samarthan programme hours ahead of BJP chief Amit Shah's scheduled meeting with Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray. Shah is scheduled to meet Thackeray at 6 pm in Mumbai today as part of BJP's Sampark For Samarthan programme. However, Sena took a dig at the programme saying that "while Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on a world tour, Amit Shah is on a domestic one".
In an editorial in Saamana on Wednesday, Sena reiterated that it will break away from the BJP and fight the 2019 Lok Sabha elections alone. Pointing at BJP's poor performance in the recently held Lok Sabha and Assembly bypolls, Sena in its editorial has said, "The BJP has lost sampark with the people of the country, and it should introspect why it has happened."
The Saamana editorial also said that a change of power was certain in the states of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra where Assembly elections will take place in 2018 and 2019.
Meanwhile, Amit Shah also met actor Madhuri Dixit Nene and her family in Mumbai as part of BJP's Sampark for Samarthan on the road to 2019. He earlier also met Yoga guru Baba Ramdev as part of the programme. After the highly speculated meet with Thackeray, Shah will fly to Chandigarh to meet Punjab ally Shiromani Akali Dal chief Parkash Singh Badal.
The Sampark for Samarthan initiative was launched by Amit Shah on May 30 in an attempt to reach out to people and generate awareness about the achievements of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government in the past four years. Eyeing the 2019 general elections, Shah has said that he will reach out to at least 50 people personally and give them details of the initiative and inform them about the achievements of the government. He said that each BJP worker has been given the responsibility of contacting at least ten people for the same. Shah said that the NaMo App would also be promoted in a similar manner.
