Mumbai, October 1: Shiv Sena on Tuesday released its first list of candidates for the Maharashtra assembly elections 2019. The first list of candidates has names of 70 Shiv Sena leaders. Shiv Sena President Uddhav Thackeray's son Aaditya Thackeray also finds a mention in the list. Shortly before the list was out, Uddhav Thackeray handed over the AB form to Aaditya who will contest the Maharashtra assembly polls from Worli constituency.

Earlier, the Shiv Sena distributed the AB forms to select candidates for the assembly polls. Those candidates have also featured in this list. On Monday, Aaditya Thackeray confirmed that he will contest polls. He is the first from his family to contest elections. No member of the Thackeray family, one of the most politically influential family in Maharashtra, has ever contested an election or even held a constitutional post since Bal Thackeray founded the Shiv Sena in 1966.

Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut also hinted that Aaditya will be the party's chief ministerial candidate. "Due to some technical glitch, Chandrayaan 2 couldn't land on the moon but we will ensure that this son (Aaditya Thackeray) reaches the sixth floor of Mantralaya (the Chief Minister's office) on 21st October," Raut said.
