Mumbai, September 4: The Shiv Sena on Wednesday issued a statement of denial after reports claimed that a member of the party has filed a police complaint against Netflix - a US-based video streaming platform - for airing "Hindu-phobic content". The party, in its statement, called the news fake, claiming that it is not related to the FIR registered against the company. Koena Mitra Launches an Attack on Huma Qureshi’s Series Leila; Calls It Hinduphobic.
"The news surfacing that Shiv Sena party has registered a complaint against @NetflixIndia for content is false. We request everybody to confirm with our Official Representatives before putting out false news which misleads the public," the party posted on Twitter.

Earlier in the day, reports said a "Shiv Sena IT Cell Member" Ramesh Solanki registered a complaint with the LT marg police station against Netflix. The complainant alleged that Netflix has adopted a concerted strategy to "defame" Hindus and India through shows such as Leila and Sacred Games.
"Almost every series on Netflix India is with the intention to defame Hindus. They are putting out content that's portraying our nation in a bad light, and it's being done in the name of freedom of expression," DNA reported him as saying.
The reports further claimed that Solanki would be approaching Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis with a copy of the complaint and a CD containing video evidence. He will appeal Fadnavis to take stern action in the case as it involves the sentiments of scores of members of the Hindu community.
