Shiv Sena Chief Uddhav Thackeray to Visit Ayodhya On November 25, Says, 'Saddened That Ram Mandir Has Not Been Constructed Yet'

Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray, on Thursday, launched a scathing attack on their ally Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), during his rally on the occasion of Dussehra.

Mumbai, October 18: Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray, on Thursday, launched a scathing attack on their ally Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), during his rally on the occasion of Dussehra. While addressing his party workers at the iconic Shivaji Park in Mumbai, the Shiv Sena chief raked up the issue of Ram Temple. Tearing into the BJP Thackeray said, “We are saddened that Ram Mandir has not been constructed yet.” He also added, “We warn everyone who thinks that Hindutva has died. We are still alive.”

Thackeray also announced that he would be visiting Ayodhya on 25 November. The Shiv Sena chief also asked the BJP to clarify its stand on the issue of the temple. During his address, Thackeray ruled out the possibility of having an alliance with the BJP in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. The Shiv Sena chief attacked the BJP over the rising prices of petrol and diesel and the depreciation of rupee against dollar. He also supported the 'Me Too' movement. The Shiv Sena chief said, "Our party stands with all the women who spoke out against sexual harassment and abuse" Thackeray performed Shastra Pujan at the rally. Aditya Thackeray and other senior leaders including Sanjay Raut Maharashtra Industries Minister Subhash Desai and Ramdas Kadam were also present at the rally. Desai hits out at the state BJP government over the Rafale deal.

Earlier in the day, the Rashtriya Sawayamsewak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat also pitched for building the Ram Temple in Ayodhya at the earliest. Addressing the cadres of the RSS in Nagpur during the annual "Vijayadashmi Utsav", Bhagwat said that the fundamentalist elements and forces were playing communal politics for selfish gains.
