Bhopal, September 17: Congress President Rahul Gandhi is set to kickstart the campaign for Madhya Pradesh Assembly Elections 2018 in Bhopal on Monday. Ahead of his visit, posters addressing him as 'Shiv Bhakt Rahul Gandhi' were seen in the city. The poster shows Gandhi offering water to a shiv ling with a picture of the Kailash Parbat in the background. MP: Chouhan Targets Rahul Gandhi with 'chilli' Barb

The poster and election rally come days after Gandhi returned from the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra. Gandhi went on the yatra earlier this month. His visit sparked a controversy with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) calling it 'fake'.

There was a Twitter war between the Congress and BJP over Gandhi's Kailash Mansarovar Yatra. While the Congress shared photographs and videos of Gandhi and even Fitbit data of the Party chief to prove that he was on the yatra, the BJP called the photos photoshopped.

Rahul Gandhi will take part in a roadshow in MP and also address party workers during his day-long visit to the state capital. Gandhi will arrive in Bhopal by an aircraft at around noon on Monday. He will then embark on a 15-kilometre-long roadshow from Lalghati Chowk, located close to the airport, after seeking the blessings of more than 11 Hindu priests, state party spokesperson Pankaj Chaturvedi told PTI on Sunday.

Gandhi’s roadshow, in which he will ride an open vehicle, will conclude at Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd’s Dussehra Maidan, where he will interact with party cadres, he added.
