New Delhi, March 25: Rebel Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and sitting Member of Parliament from Patna Sahib, Shatrughan Sinha will join the Congress on March 28, reported News18 Hindi. Earlier, news surfaced that the BJP MP is likely to join the grand old party by the end of this month. In the past, the actor turned politician on many occasion criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the top leadership of the party. Last year, during a launch of Congress MP Shashi Tharoor's book 'The Paradoxical Prime Minister, Narendra Modi And His India', Sinha had told The New Indian Express that Modi would not become prime minister again.

In his recent tweets, Sinha lauded Congress President Rahul Gandhi for announcing minimum income support to 20 percent most impoverished families of the nation. He tweeted, “It's a masterstroke by the 'master of situation', @RahulGandhi - declaring #MinimumIncomeGuarantee scheme. It has rattled our people so much that some of our prominent people had to rush for a press conference, calling the whole declaration/ announcement chhal kapat.”

Sinha said that people welcomed the Congress' decision to provide minimum income support. The actor turned politician even slammed the ruling BJP for not fulfilling the promise of crediting Rs 15 lakh into the accounts of every citizen.
