Mumbai, November 25: Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar has said that any decision to remove Ajit Pawar from the NCP will have to be taken collectively by the members the party. When asked if Ajit Pawar would be expelled from the party for supporting the BJP and chief minister Devendra Fadnavis, Sharad Pawar said that it is not up to an individual to decide such matters and downplayed the question. The NCP chief also attacked the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and said that BJP forming the government in Maharashtra will not work as they do not have the majority. The senior Pawar also insisted that the BJP does not have the numbers to form the government in Maharashtra. He also added that earlier when the governor had invited the BJP, the party had refused to stake claim to form the government. "It is a fact that BJP didn't have the majority and that is why they had not formed the government, they had even written to the Governor initially that they don't have the majority and hence will not form the government," said Sharad Pawar. Ajit Pawar threw a political surprise by producing a letter of support of the NCP MLAs and supporting the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in forming the government in Maharashtra. He took oath as the deputy chief minister of Maharashtra along with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis in the Raj Bhawan on Saturday, in the presence of Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari. The NCP then removed him from his post as the leader of the legislative Party and appointed Jayant Patil in his position.
