Sharad Pawar Does Not Endorse Ajit Pawar's Move of Supporting BJP in Maharashtra, Says NCP Has Nothing to Do With It
Earlier on Saturday morning, BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis took oath as the chief minister of Maharashtra and Ajit Pawar as the deputy chief minister in a surprising turn of events. On Friday, Sharad Pwar had said that Shiv Sena head Uddhav Thackeray would become the chief minister and that Shiv Sena-NCP-Congress would form the government.
Mumbai, November 23: NCP chief Sharad Pawar refuted the reports that he was aware about nephew and NCP leader Ajit Pawar's decision to support BJP and has "placed on record" that neither he nor the party endorses Ajit Pawar's decision to go along with the BJP. Earlier on Saturday morning, BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis took oath as the chief minister of Maharashtra and Ajit Pawar as the deputy chief minister in a surprising turn of events. The initial reports claimed that Pawar senior was in know of things after pictures of Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar emerged from the Raj Bhavan. It became clear that Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari administered the oath and that Fadnavis and Pawar took oath as the chief minister and deputy chief minister of Maharashtra. However, Sharad Pawar tweeted and said that that this is Ajit Pawar's personal decision and that NCP does not endorse it. Pawar also made it clear that he has nothing to do with the developments that took place at the Raj Bhavan on Saturday morning.
