Mumbai, November 24: Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut on Sunday took a sharp dig at the early morning swearing-in ceremony of Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Deputy CM Ajit Pawar. On Saturday, Raut attacked Fadnavis and said that why he couldn't dare to take the oath before people of Maharashtra. "The new government was formed at 7 in the morning. In the cover of darkness only sins are committed," he said. Senior Congress leader Ahmed Patel said that the "clandestine" manner in which Fadnavis was sworn-in as the chief minister of Maharashtra will be written in black ink in the history of the state. He also accused the BJP of crossing the limits of "shamelessness". Ajit Pawar Betrayed Sharad Pawar, BJP Misused Governor's Office: Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut.

"There was neither band baja (celebration) nor a procession as the chief minister was sworn-in in a clandestine manner...the incident will be written in black ink in Maharashtra's history," Patel told reporters, adding democracy stands "shattered" after the BJP formed the government. Many were taken by surprise by a government notification which said that President'rule in Maharashtra was revoked around 5:45 am on Saturday.
The Shiv Sena-NCP-Congress combine has approached the Supreme Court against Fadnavis's swearing-in and Governor's decision to invite him to form a government. "The petitioners are praying for an immediate floor test within 24 hours so as to avoid further horse-trading and illegal manoeuvres to somehow cobble up a majority from the Maha Vikas Aghadi," said the petition.
