Mumbai, July 31: Voting for the Sangli-Miraj-Kupwad Municipal Corporation Elections 2018 will take place on Wednesday, August 1. Voting for the Sangli-Miraj-Kupwad Mahanagar palika will be held from 7.30 am to 5.30 pm tomorrow. Before going to cast their votes, voters have been advised to check their names of the voters list to ensure they are entitled to vote.
The 78-member Sangli-Miraj-Kupwad Municipal Corporation has 41 Congress members and 19 from the NCP. The BJP has no representation in the civic body, while there are nine Independents and eight members from local outfits. The Raj Thackeray-led MNS has one member.
Here is how you can check your name in the ward-wise voter list:
- Go to the official website of Sangli-Miraj-Kupwad Mahanagar Palika www.smkc.gov.in
- Click on the SMKC Election link on the home page
- Click on the voter list link on the left side of the page
- Click on the division/ward number
- This will take you to a Google Drive of booth-wise lists of voters
- Check your name in the list of the booth you are registered at
The term of the Sangli corporation ends on August 13. The BJP is attempting to expand its base in Sangli district as the party has no members in the SMK Municipal Corporation. In 2014, the BJP bagged the Sangli Lok Sabha seat, while in the assembly polls (held in October 2014), the party got four seats.
Meanwhile, the civic polls come just months ahead of the Maharashtra Assembly Elections 2018. The Sangli-Miraj-Kupwad Civic poll results will be declared on Friday, August 3. Counting of votes will begin at 10 am on Friday. Stay tuned to LatestLY for live updates on voting and results.
