Sakshi Maharaj Calls For Demolition of Jama Masjid in Delhi, Says 'Hang Me if Idols Are Not Recovered'
The BJP said he had made this claim when he first entered into politics and still stands by it.
New Delhi, November 23: Bharatiya Janata Party lawmaker Sacchidanand Hari Sakshi aka Sakshi Maharaj on Friday called for the demolition of Jama Masjid in Delhi. Sakshi Maharaj said he be hanged if idols of Hindu gods were found below the staircase of Jama Masjid. The BJP said he had made this claim when he first entered into politics and still stands by it.
"When I came to politics, my first statement was in Mathura. Leave Ayodhya, Mathura and Kashi aside and demolish Jama Masjid in Delhi and if idols are now found below the staircase then I should be hanged. I still stand by this statement," Sakshi Maharaj, who has a reputation for making controversial remarks, said, as reported by Indian Express. Sakshi Maharaj Inaugurates Night Club! The BJP lawmaker from Uttar Pradesh's Unnao also claimed that Mughals constructed more than 3000 mosques by razing temples. "During the Mughal era, people played with the honour of Hindus and demolished temples and mosques were constructed, over 3000," Maharaj said. He said the BJP has a clear stand on construction of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya.
Maharaj also asked Congress president Rahul Gandhi BSP chief Mayawati and SP president Akhilesh Yadav to clear their stand on Ram Mandir. Last month, he dared Rahul Gandhi to contest the 2019 Lok Sabha polls against him, saying he will leave politics if he defeats him.
