According to news agency ANI, Pragya Singh Thakur on her statement on Mumbai ATS Chief late Hemant Karkare said, "I felt that the enemies of the country were being benefited from it, therefore I take back my statement and apologize for it, it was my personal pain." She also said that Hemant Karkare died from the bullets in 26/11 terrorist attack in Mumbai from the enemy country, he is a martyr. He died from the bullets of terrorists from the enemy country, he is certainly a martyr," she said.
Earlier Today, she said that 'Karkare died because he was cursed'. "Hemant Karkare falsely implicated me [in Malegaon blasts] and treated me very badly. I told him your entire dynasty will be erased. Meanwhile, the Bharatiya Janata Party has also released a statement over the remarks made against Hemant Karkare by Pragya Thakur. The statement says, "BJP considers him a martyr. This is Sadhvi Pragya's personal statement which she might have given because of the mental & physical torture she had faced."
Sadhvi Pragya, prime accused in the 2008 Malegaon blast case, has been fielded by the saffron party to contest the Lok Sabha Elections from Madhya Pradesh's Bhopal. She is pitted against Indian National Congress leader Digvijaya Singh.
