The Janata Dal United (JDU) has fielded sitting MLA Bima Bharti from the Rupauli Assembly Constituency, while Mahagathbandhan’s Vikash Chandra Mandal is contesting on Communist Party of India’s (CPI’s) ticket. The Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) has given ticket to Shankar Singh. In 2015, Bharti contested on the JDU ticket defeating Prem Prakash Mandal of the BJP.
The Bihar Assembly elections 2020 is the first major polling exercise since the outbreak of COVID-19 in India. The BJP is contesting 243-seat assembly elections in alliance with Nitish Kumar's Janata Dal-United (JDU) as part of 50:50 seat division formula.
