Mysuru, Mar 30: Ruckus broke at BJP president Amit Shah's public meeting in Myrusu as Dalit participants raised slogans against Union Minister Ananth Kumar Hegde, who had made controversial remarks on the Constitution.

Shah, who is on a day-long visit to Mysuru as part of the Karnataka assembly elections campaign, was addressing a meet of Dalit community leaders when the commotion erupted.

Among the gatherers, some began raising slogans against Hegde during Shah's speech. The protesters were escorted out of the meeting hall. Here's the video of the incident:

What had Ananth Kumar Hegde said on the Constitution?

Hegde, the Minister of State for Skill Development, stoked a controversy in December last year after he claimed that the BJP could make changes to the Constitution in order to spearhead its agenda.

"A few people say the Constitution mentions the word secular, so you have to agree. Because it's there in the Constitution, we will respect it, but this will change in the near future. The Constitution has changed many times before. We are here and have come to change the Constitution. We will change it," Hegde had said while addressing the Brahman Yuva Parishad.

His remarks created an uproar with the Opposition alleging "insult" to Dalit icon BR Ambedkar, who is regarded as the pioneer of the Indian Constitution.
