New Delhi, December 26: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Thursday fired fresh salvo against Prime Minister Narendra Modi over his purported claim of there being no active detention centre in India. The Gandhi scion shared a clip compiled by a top media outlet on his social media handle, which showed the existence of detention centres in the state of Assam. PM Narendra Modi Defends Citizenship Amendment Act, Says 'No Indian Muslim Will Be Sent to Detention Centre'.
Along with the footage, Gandhi posted a stinging jibe against Modi, calling him the Prime Minister of "RSS" or Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh which is the ideological parent of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The former Congress president further accused the PM of lying to "Bharat Mata".
"RSS Prime Minister lying to Bharat Mata," Gandhi said on Twitter, as he posted a video of BBC News where their correspondents went on the field to verify the existence of detention centres in Assam. Several "illegal immigrants" have been sent to these detention centres, according to reports.

PM Modi, while launching the BJP's election campaign in Delhi, attempted to allay the concerns of anti-CAA protesters by claiming that his government has "not even discussed" the implementation of pan-India National Register of Citizens (NRC).
The Prime Minister accused the Congress and "urban naxals" of pushing the Muslims into panic and anxiety by spreading rumours about detention centres. "The Congress and its allies - some urban Naxals - are spreading rumors that all Muslims will be sent to detention centers... Neither is anybody sending the country's Muslims to detention centres nor are there any detention centres in India... The Muslims of India don't need to worry at all. The CAB and the NRC will not apply to the Muslims of the country," Modi had said at his rally in Ramlila Maidan.
